Does the leather community have a Nazi problem?

That's the question writer Alexander Cheves asks in the recent Out exclusive up on our site now.

The piece looks at the International Mr. Leather competition, and the recent controversy around one of its judges, Tom of Finland Foundation head Durk Dehner. When photos of Dehner wearing Nazi regalia started to surface online, he was removed as a judge and then stepped down from his position at the Foundation.

"I have made [it] my life commitment to nurturing the artists that represent us. It is not right nor fair to punish them nor the Foundation that cares for them and their advocates," stated Dehner in a plea to donors and supporters when he stepped down. "...I very much desire for this event to be transformational, leading to healing and growth for myself, for the foundation and our community."

"I have violated my own code of ethics, and know that more consciousness is required in a world that does not necessarily like who we are as a people," he added. "Please accept my most heartfelt apology."

But does the problem end there? Read our exclusive to learn more.
