Here at Out, we love our pop girlies!
Whether it's iconic queens like Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Beyoncé or smaller artists, we can't get enough of great pop music sung by talented women.
But pop girlies don't have to be just women. Pop girlies can be any gender, as long as they know how to make us dance and feel with their songs! Pop girlies can be gay men, nonbinary people, and whoever else captures our hearts with their music.
The 2024 Out100 is here, and in the list, we celebrate the makers, movers, and shakers in culture and society who had the biggest effects on us this year, and that includes many of our favorite pop girlies!
1. Victoria Monét
Victoria Monét hasn't left our ears since she released her debut album Jaguar II in 2023. The longtime songwriter had the sexiest album of the year and was nominated for seven Grammys, winning three of them.
2. Anitta
This Brazilian pop star was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy in 2023 and has won three consecutive Best Latin awards at the MTV Video Music Awards. How could we not include her in the Out100?
3. Maren Morris
Country music is rarely a welcoming world for queer and trans people, but singer Maren Morris has worked hard to try to create some space. The bisexual singer came out this year following a divorce from her husband, ending up on our Out100.
4. Chappell Roan
We're all H-O-T-T-O-G-O for Chappell Roan! The lesbian singer's debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, had seven songs reach the Billboard Hot 100, including anthems like "Good Luck, Babe!," "Hot to Go," and "Pink Pony Club."
5. Pabllo Vittar
Vittar is one of the biggest drag artists in the world, and also has a killer voice and sound. The Brazilian queen and singer is just the second-ever drag queen to have a song on the Billboard Hot 100 after RuPaul.
6. Reneé Rapp
Reneé Rapp is an actress, singer, and a lesbian. At the beginning of 2024, she collabed with Megan Thee Stallion, performed on SNL (and came out as a lesbian on the show), and starred in the iconic role of Regina George in the Mean Girls musical movie.
7. Cynthia Erivo
This year's Out100 cover star is actor and singer Cynthia Erivo. Of course, Erivo is starring in Wicked this fall as Elphaba, but we also love her music, as heard on her debut album Ch. 1 Vs. 1, released in 2021.
8. Ben Platt
In recent years, Ben Platt has starred in the Dear Evan Hansen movie, was nominated for a Grammy for the revival soundtrack of the musical Parade, and released the film Theater Camp. He also released his third album, Honeymind this year, proving that he's a force to be reckoned with in pop.
9. Adam Lambert
We've loved Adam Lambert since his days on American Idol, and the singer has yet to fade from our focus. Whether he's singing his own songs, covering Cher, singing for Queen, or making his Broadway debut as the Emcee in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, we love Adam Lambert.
10. Trixie Mattel
This drag queen, entrepreneur, gay bar co-owner, motel owner, and TV star is also a brilliant singer and songwriter. From her country songs to her pop, we love her and her music!
