Shea Couleé is RuPaul's Drag Race royalty as the crowned queen of All Stars 5. The iconic diva is one of the most well-rounded winners from the hit show and her world domination is only gaining momentum.
By walking in major fashion campaigns (including Rihanna's Savage X Fenty Show), securing a guest spot on the hit ABC show Abbott Elementary, and becoming the first drag artist to land a major acting role in the MCU, Couleé has undoubtedly made a major impact beyond Drag Race fame.
Although her résumé certainly speaks for itself, there's still one iconic Drag Race moment that lives in her head rent free.
"I would probably have to say when I got to walk for Naomi Campbell and come face-to-face with her. It really takes a lot to make a bad bitch like me cry. Y'all got me! It was so iconic. She's so beautiful, wonderful, and gorgeous. A true icon! Whenever it comes across my timeline, I never skip it. I always sit there and watch," Couleé tells Out.
Besides her success on the silver screen, Couleé is also a gifted performer and loves to put out music that resonates with the LGBTQ+ community.
In fact, she recently released her first single in 3 years, "My Name," on Juneteenth. The new track serves as a sequel to her All Stars 7 hit song "Your Name." Later this year, she'll be releasing new material, including her record "Nu Era."
"So much of my tenure on RuPaul's Drag Race really focused on excellence. When you're always trying to be excellent, it adds this extra layer of pressure. With these next singles, bitch, I'm just going to have fun! I'm going to say what I want. It reminds me so much of the reason I got into drag for the sake of pure, unabashed, self-expression. I feel more like myself now than ever!"
Couleé's infectious energy has uplifted many queer people as they navigate all of the challenges in today's hostile political climate. With the midterm elections coming up, the Drag Race legend is making it clear that she's no fan of Donald Trump and that everyone needs to vote blue in November.
"To the Cheeto in charge, honey, hang it up. You need to worry about that hairline. You need to worry about that tan. You need to worry about that makeup base. It's a little bit too orange. You need to worry about who's going to change your diaper next. Will you just stop? Don't touch anything else. You've done enough. Stop it. Let's manifest a successful midterm and let's manifest it finally happens. We know what it is. Let's manifest it, okay?"
