The nominations for the 76th annual Primetime Emmys were just announced earlier today, and the category for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series is an absolutely packed one this year!
The category is not just one of the best ones this year, but also one of the queerest, with four out of five nominees being queer actors in queer roles!
Matt Bomer
Matt Bomer, who plays government worker Hawk Fuller in Fellow Travelers, was nominated for his second ever Emmy. He was previously nominated in 2014 in the same category for The Normal Heart. His co-star, Jonathan Bailey, also got nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
Richard Gadd
Baby Reindeer star and creator Richard Gadd also is nominated in the category, for playing a fictionalized version of himself in his deeply personal series.
In total, the series got 11 nominations, including ones for queer actors Jessica Gunning and Nava Mau in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category, where they'll face off against fellow queer actors Lily Gladstone for Under the Bridge, and Kali Reis for True Detective: Night Country.
Tom Hollander
The third queer nominee in the Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Anthology category is Tom Hollander, who has earned his first-ever Emmy nomination for playing queer writer Truman Capote in Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans.
The fourth queer nomination goes to Andrew Scott, with his second acting nomination. This year he's nommed for playing con artist Tom Ripley in Netflix's stylish Ripley. He was previously nominated for Black Mirror.
These nominees will go up against Jon Hamm for Fargo in the category.
The 76th Emmys will take place on Sunday, September 15 on ABC.
