"Mitchie 4 ever," declares Demi Lovato in a new Instagram post that has an entire generation of Camp Rock fans excited for the premiere of this week's long-awaited sequel Camp Rock 3.
Their photo showing Lovato and their costars from the original 2008 Disney TV movie followed Monday's report by Deadline that they're returning in a cameo as Mitchie Torres. They'll appear alongside the Jonas Brothers as Shane, Nate and Jason Gray of the band "Connect 3" and Maria Canals-Barrera as Mitchieās mom Connie, who is now the camp director.
Disney let fans know in an Instagram post in 2025 that Lovato is an executive producer on Camp Rock 3, which is a sequel to 2010's Camp Rock 2: The FInal Jam. 16 years later, Lovato was asked what it was like to step back into Mitchie's shoes.
"So nostalgic and so healing to step into the role of Mitchie again," said Lovato in a video posted on Tuesday by Disney on Instagram. "I had the best time."
As Out reported in 2024, Lovato knows full-well how much both their character and the Disney Channel Original Movie meant to preteens, tweens, and youth across America in 2008. A whole generation sang along to "This is Me" and wished they could become music superstars, too.
"This film obviously means so much to me," they said. "Camp Rock was the beginning of my journey in this industry, and so it's just so great to be able to be back in this role."
Fans who grew up with Lovato and Camp Rock shared their excitement about this week's premiere.
"Watching this is going to be so healing," wrote Giselle, a Disney fan and digital creator.
"It was a time to be alive!" said Kendra Kay Heathscott of Minneapolis.
"Mitchie forever," wrote a songwriter from the Bay Area. "Some characters just become part of peopleās memories for life."
A few fans quoted lyrics from a 2008 song by Lovato from the soundtrack of the original movie. The soundtrack reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 that year and went platinum, selling more than one million copies.
"Who will i be, itās up to me! all the never ending possibilities that i can see, thereās nothing that iiii cannnn dooo!" wrote one fan. Another shared just how meaningful Lovato and their costars have been to them.
"My whole childhood just flashed before my eyes," said Gianna of New York City. "Camp Rock will forever be part of who I am. Iām very excited to see #3 and to see some familiar faces again we have all grown up with over the years."
Camp Rock 3 debuts on the Disney Channel on Thursday, August 13 and will be available to stream the next day on Disney+.
