Heated Rivalry fans have noticed that Dylan Walsh, the actor who plays closeted hockey star Shane Hollander’s dad David in the hit show, is on hiatus from Cameo after letting some info about the upcoming season slip.
Walsh has been making custom videos that fans pay for since 2020, but is no longer taking requests after making a Cameo where he accidentally revealed that they are about to start filming more episodes of Heated Rivalry than had been officially announced.
"Getting ready to go back up to Canada to shoot some more episodes, so I think we’re doing 12 this time," he said in a Cameo that quickly spread across social media.
This was explosive information for fans of the show, considering creator Jacob Tierney had previously said that season 2 would be six episodes long, much like the first season. "I don’t need to do 10. I would always rather tighten the belt than get loosey-goosey," Tierney told the Los Angeles Times. "I would rather be like, ‘Let’s see how much story we can pack into these episodes.'"
Now fans are left wondering if season 2 is going to be longer than expected or if they are filming season 2 and 3 back-to-back.
After the leaked information went viral, intrepid internet sleuths quickly noticed that Walsh's Cameo account was "unavailable for personalized videos" until Aug. 7, 2027. His profile on the app currently has a message from Walsh that reads, "Stepping away because a video went viral that got me in trouble."
This is particularly ironic because the show’s second season is going to focus on the sequel novel The Long Game, where Shane Hollander’s best friend Hayden Pike accidentally posts some top-secret info in a video for a Cameo-like app that ends up going viral.
Fans commenting on viral posts about the incident are demanding Cameo "free my boy Dylan," talking about starting a petition to get his access to the app back, and calling the actor "our real life hayden pike."
