Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for episode 1 of Project Runway season 22.
Project Runway season 22's jam-packed premiere billed this cycle as "bigger than ever," introduced us to a dizzying 22 designers, and gave the gays plenty of hilarious new reality TV quotes just a meme away from going viral.
Heidi Klum, Nina García, and Law Roach return as main judges alongside Tyra Banks as a new recurring judge. The cast has lots of familiar faces, too, from returning Project Runway contestants to pageant winners to fierce RuPaul's Drag Race stars (and I'm not just talking about the queens). By the end of the episode, several eliminations are announced, the Drag Race girlies are at risk, and the library is wide open.

Re-Heated Rivalry: A Drag Race Story.
Plane Jane and Q
Disney+
A heartwarming exchange between Plane Jane and Q on RuPaul's Drag Race season 16 gave us the iconic "Mama, kudos for saying that. For spilling." As far as the public knows, however, that was the only positive moment between the two queens on TV. In fact, Plane and Q apparently became fierce frenemies in the post-season of Drag Race season 16, as evidenced by their wild fight during season 16's Bring Back My Girls reunion special hosted by Ts Madison.
Casting Plane and Robby on Project Runway is a choice that could lead to chaos and mess. Yet, while the elements are all there, we only see sistorrr-hood between the two queens during the premiere. (Well, mostly!)
"At the oculus, who do I see walking in? None other than Q, a.k.a. Robby, with his happy bald ass, honey," Plane tells us in a confessional. "OK, all right. Robby's great. But, you know, I am the star."
Robby says, "I know Plane Jane because we did season 16 of Drag Race together… and I definitely think she's a bitch. She's a cunt! [laughs.]"
Sickening, explained.

Plane Jane has done it again.
While still in the workroom, fellow contestant Bao Tranchi asks the "mama kudos" originator how she's feeling about this first episode having so many eliminations. "I'm feeling sickening," Plane quips.
"No…" is Bao's immediate response, with all the sincerity in the goddamn world, looking at Plane with concern.
Upon realizing Bao did not understand what "sickening" means in drag language, Plane breaks down the concept and gives fans yet another sweet-turned-hilarious moment, much like "mama kudos."
Plane tells Bao, "Sickening is a good. Sickening is 'yes!' Okay. It's a Sickening is… (finger snap)."
"Oh, you feel siiiiiick," Bao replies, adorably.
Jeffrey is a figure of his own in the drag world.

There's a third Drag Race-adjacent persona on Project Runway this season — Jeffrey Kelly Abess, a pretty well-established designer in the drag world who's created several looks for queens to wear on Drag Race.
Notably, the Florida-based designer has made costumes for Suzie Toot, Trinity The Tuck, Salina EsTitties, Morgan McMichaels, Lady Camden, Sam Star, and Roxxxy Andrews, to name a few.
But there's something else about Jeffrey that even Drag Race fans are still learning about.
Ex on the Beach… well, workroom.
In a cryptic X post shared right after the cast announcement of Project Runway season 22, Alexis Mateo revealed she was approached by "producers of a very famous tv show" and turned down the invitation — finding out through the cast reveal that "my ex is in it."
"The one I had a very dark relationship with," Alexis added.
Jeffrey and Alexis indeed dated for a few years, as evidenced in a Valentine's Day-themed interview with the two of them for Hotspots Magazine.
"For our very first Valentine's Day together, we spent our day alone together. We were both so busy then, him modeling and me touring with Drag Race, that it was amazing to just be by ourselves, talk, have dinner, and just hold each other's hands for a moment," Alexis told the publication at the time. "For two people like us, always in the public eye, we treasure every moment alone with each other."
Plane Jane is read to filth for her first look on 'Project Runway.'
The designers are allowed to watch this runway presentation from the workroom, which includes trying to decipher the faces, gestures, and lips moving of the judges. Spoiler alert: they assume almost everything wrong.
On that note, Plane Jane immediately yells out, "Come through, PJ Couture!" as her look comes out on the runway. That sentiment, however, is not shared among Plane's costars.
"Plane Jane's look… It's just not giving what I think she thinks it's giving," Chloe Magleby says in a confessional. "I definitely wouldn't go to the grocery store in that outfit. Or anywhere."
Elizabeth Shevelev adds in her own confessional, "Oh, OK, it's the No-Taste Olympics. What is this vibe? Like, what's going on?"
Those scenes cut to the judging panel, with Law Roach rightly observing that "there's a drag queen on this season. It has to be a drag queen."
Tyra Banks asks Law if he finds it "very challenging" to hold onto his curiosity of what the designers might pull off week after week.
"No" is his immediate answer.
Tyra adds, "I'm curious of like—"
"I'm not," Law remarks.
Watching from the workroom, Plane seems to guess that Law disapproved of her look. In response, she (humorously) tells the model wearing her outfit to "hit Law in the jaw, bitch."
Law Roach stops that Plane.

Law Roach and Plane Jane finally face each other during deliberations — Plane being there among the other designers with bottom placements for the week — and it's all quite awkward and shady.
It all starts with Heidi Klum opening the discussion about Plane Jane's outfit. "Law, what were your thoughts about this look?" she asks.
Before Law is able to say a word, however, Plane interjects. "So this is a look that I actually wore on Drag Race," she says. "I saw it…
Heidi interrupts Plane with a polite "Uh…?"
"Oh! Oh my god, I'm so sorry," Plane replies. "Not my thoughts. So embarrassing."
Law, who first laughs to himself, remarks, "We didn't see fashion. We saw a spiky cooch."
The fashion icon then references his role on Drag Race. "I wish I was on another show because I would make you lip sync for your life," Law tells Plane.
Plane responds, "Oh my gosh! But, listen, I would kill that lip sync."
"Well, I wish you had killed the look," Law says, shrugging. "But you didn't."
This very awkward exchange ends with a Plane confessional. "I think Law is being a hater — so, whatever!" she protests.
The premiere ends with all three 'drag designers' at risk of being eliminated.
Tyra Banks on 'Project Runway'
Disney+
By the end of this first episode, three people have been eliminated — Jennifer Daniels, Omolara "LRÉ the Artist" Odupita, and Andrea Moore — and it's already been announced that more eliminations will follow.
Considering how well Ethan Mundt (otherwise known as Utica Queen) did in the previous season of Project Runway, it's wild to see all three Drag Race-adjacent figures in season 22 being at risk to go home in week 1. When the episode ends, the judges aren't done eliminating designers, and Plane, Robby, and Jeffrey are all candidates to get the boot.
We can't wait to see how this turns out.
