Though many women have been objectified in film, television, and live theater over time, the full exploration of male bodies hasn’t been as prominent in mainstream media up until recent years.

Thankfully, times are a-changing, and nude scenes are slowly becoming more commonplace for people of all genders rather than just placing all of the pressure on actresses. This has also led to more considerate evaluations of whether certain nudity is indeed necessary to tell a story, or if it’s being employed for no relevant reason.

In the last few decades, certain actors have taken it all off for their craft and showed up in movies, TV shows, and theater productions looking completely naked. Though there’s always some discourse surrounding which actors used their real genitals for a scene and which of them had prosthetics instead, it’s all about delivering a performance and having viewers suspend their disbelief.
