Project Runway has been a gay fave, but now that RuGirls are regularly joining the cast, it’s appointment television.

The design competition reality show is coming back for season 22, and not only will Heidi Klum and Christian Siriano be returning, but two Drag Race superstars are vying the crown.


Last season, Utica Queen managed to make it all the way to the final three because of her avant-garde designs, but this season, both Drag Race season 16 stars Plane Jane and Q will be competing to take home the big prize on Project Runway, reports Deadline.

Project Runway season 22 premieres on July 9, 2026.

Nina Garcia and Law Roach will both be returning as judges for the 22nd season of the popular show, along with Klum as host and Siriano as the mentor for the new designers.

Plane Jane and Q will be joining the upcoming cast of fashion designers alongside returning season 21 designer Joseph McRae, as well as newcomers Aaron Potts, Andrea Moore, Andriy Volkov, Anna Molinari, Bao Tranchi, Bi Pham, Bryan Barrientos, Chloe Magleby, Dani Bennett, Elizabeth Shevelev, Jeffrey Kelly Abess, Jennifer Daniels, Jude Mikulencak, Omolara “LRÉ the Artist” Odupita, Naheim Muhammad, Octavius Terry, R’bonney Nola Gabriel, Varvara “Bobby” Diakonenkova, and Yang Yang Xu.

The list of upcoming guest judges hasn’t been released yet, but the show is famous for having huge stars come on to be the arbiters of fashion.

Who is Plane Jane?

Plane Jane is the stage name of Andrew Vladimir Dunayevskiy, a Russian-American drag queen who made it all the way to the finals of Drag Race season 16.

After bringing her razor-sharp wit and ability to read fellow competitors for filth to Drag Race, Jane starred on House of Villains where she had a short but memorable stint on the reality competition show.

Who is Q?

Q, who is appearing on the show using their non-drag name, Robert Crone, starred alongside Jane in Drag Race season 16.

Q and Jane bonded during their season on the RuPaul-hosted show, when Q disclosed her HIV status to Jane in a moving onscreen moment that went viral within the fandom.

"Mama, kudos for saying that. For spilling," Jane said.

Now, fans will have a chance to see the friends on screen together again on Project Runway, where they were will be competing against each other, not by serving lewks, but designing hot fashion.
