It's a Roman epic filled with sand, blood, sweat, and leather!
The first trailer for director Ridley Scott's highly-anticipated sequel Gladiator IIis finally here, and it bring us all the shirtless images of All of Us Strangers star Paul Mescal we could want!
Mescal stars in the sequel to Scott's Oscar-winning 2000 historical epic starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. He plays Lucius, the son of Connie Nielsen's Lucilla from the first film. Now, he's grown up and has a family of his own. When the two young emperors of Rome invade his home, he becomes a gladiator to fight to bring down their empire.
Nielsen is returning to her role as Lucilla, as is Derek Jacobi, who plays Senator Gracchus. They are joined by new cast members including Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Denzel Washington.
The official synopsis says that Gladiator II "continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people."
Gladiator II stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington and is set to hit theaters on November 22. Scroll through to see the first cast posters for the film as well as first-look images!
