The First Wives Club is being adapted into a television show, and Girls Trip co-writer, Tracy Oliver, is penning the script, Deadline reports.

Paramount Network (currently Spike) is developing the program after a failed adaptation attempt on TV Land. The new network will launch in January 2018, and has also acquired the Heathers TV show and American Woman.

Oliver co-wrote Girls Trip with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris. Oliver's also worked on Barbershop III and The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. Like the 1996 film, which starred Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, and Bette Midler, The First Wives Club will follow a group of ex-wives who band together in the name of revenge and sisterhood in New York City.

In a tweet, Oliver confirmed that the new adaptation will feature "a diverse cast:"
