Queer representation on TV seems like it’s improving every year, but that hasn’t stopped networks and streaming services from cutting LGBTQ+ TV left and right — the number cut after just one season would astound you.
Heated Rivalry may have dominated the television landscape at the end of the year, but the show’s popularity didn’t stop at least eight queer-inclusive TV shows from being canceled in 2025.
Unfortunately, the trend seems to be continuing and several LGBTQ+ shows have already found their heads on the chopping block this year.

1. Palm Royale

2. I Kissed a Boy

The groundbreaking reality TV show was canceled after season 2 due to “funding challenges.”

3. I Kissed a Girl
BBC Announces 'I Kissed a Boy' Dating Show Spinoff 'I Kissed a Girl'BBCI Kissed a Girl, the sapphic version of the British gay dating show I Kissed A Boy, was also canceled for lack of funding. Despite being canned, the second season of the reality TV show will air sometime this spring.

4. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy was just canceled after airing its first season and wrapping production on an upcoming second season. While it’s unclear exactly why the show got the boot, it has been called too “woke” by people on social media for starring Tig Notaro as queer instructor Jett Reno, who is in a lesbian relationship with cadet master Lura Thok, and featuring the franchise’s first openly gay Klingon character.
