"Trade" was a term originally assigned to hyper-masculine, straight-passing (or not gay-identified) men who were often seen as object of desire for queer and/or trans people. The term comes from the idea that these men had (or could have) "trade jobs" without being singled out as effeminate by their straight coworkers.
However, the definition of "trade" has evolved over the years — particularly through the evolution of RuPaul's Drag Race as a mainstream series — to mean that a more masculine-leaning guy looks good. While there are people in the LGBTQ+ community who still try to respect the term's original meaning, there are also those who have welcomed the broadening of the term beyond what's perceived as "desirable" through being "masculine."
Considering this new interpretation of "trade," we've come up with a list of Drag Race alumni who have been labeled "trades of the season" by the fans.
