2020 will forever be remembered as the year of social distancing and face masks. The global pandemic shook the world to its foundations while reminding us of the fragility of life and the importance of community, but that wasn't the only story of 2020. Did you forget about Tiger King and that horrific Central Park racist dog walker? And it was a very important year for those celebrities who decided it was time to come out. So why not take a trip with us down memory lane and revisit our top stories of 2020.
Actress and comedian Niecy Nash surprised fans when she introduced herself as "Mrs. Carol Denise Betts" and posted pics of her wedding. Rapper DaBrat came out and revealed her girlfriend, Jesseca Dupart, gifted her a $200,000 Bentley. Rosario Dawson called out her "fellow LGBTQ+ homies" and Stacy London said musician Cat Yezbak is her "first serious relationship with a woman." (Though they were our most-read stories this year, over 70 celebrities came out in 2020.)
No need to use your imagination about the homoerotic tendencies of those hunky Disney animated heartthrobs with Tom Taylor's totally hot cartoons.
Christian Cooper came to the country's attention in the viral Central Park video of a racist dog walker with an aversion to rules and leashes, but it turns out he's an LGBTQ+ pioneer in the graphic novel industry for creating Yoshi Mishima, the first gay male character in a Star Trek comic and the first gay human ever within the Star Trek universe.
Ellen DeGeneres has had a rough year, but Kate McKinnon reminded everyone the debt of gratitude the community owes to the mercurial LGBTQ+ icon and pioneer who helped make it okay to be gay with a wider audience.
If for some strange reason you get lost finding thick pubic jungle that lives and breathes within the pants of Omar Ayuso, just follow the big V and you'll be there in no time.
Tiger King was the country's collective guilty pleasure of the year, but it was heartwarming to learn our favorite LGBTQ+ tiger handler Kelci "Saff" Saffery was a father to three children. "My children call me dad, they do not call me mom."
This year we said goodbye to dancer Danny Tidwell, Drag Race's Chi Chi DeVayne, and drag legend Nashom Wood aka Mona Foot.
You probably only knew costume designer Tarek Soliman for his work on Sasha Velour's headpiece for the RuPaul's Drag Race season 10 finale -- until he wrote his own personal story after becoming ill with the virus, complete with shirtless pics.
