Puerto Rican rapper and songwriter Young Miko has been blowing up recently, skyrocketing to fame with endorsements from popular musicians like Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish.
The 28-year-old musician and self-proclaimed “gold star lesbian” has found a loyal LGBTQ+ fanbase that loves her unapologetically queer lyrics.
This year, she has skyrocketed to fame after appearing in the Super Bowl Halftime Show, starring in Gap ads, and now gracing the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine with a photo shoot that is sure to have sapphic fans salivating over just how hot the tattoo-covered lesbian star is.
But who is the up-and-coming musician Young Miko?

María Victoria Ramírez de Arellano Cardona, known professionally as Young Miko, is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer-songwriter, who makes Latin trap, reggaeton, and Latin pop music.
She released her debut EP Trap Kitty in 2022, and since then she’s reached the Billboard Hot 100 with her song “Feid,” performed at Coachella in 2024, and released her debut studio album Att. the same year.
And 2026 might be her year, but Young Miko also had an amazing 2025. The artist scored her second studio album and performed at Lollapalooza and the Governors Ball Music Festival.
Is Young Miko queer?

In her cover story with Cosmo, Young Miko called herself “a gold star lesbian” and talked about how being part of the LGBTQ+ community has helped her career, not hindered it.
“I feel lucky that my queerness has been powerful for my career. I now represent something bigger than me.”
Unfortunately, things weren’t quite as smooth with her family, who took her “church first and to therapy” when they found out she was gay, but luckily they eventually came around.
“They thought I was young and confused,” she said. “We ended up going to therapy together, and I learned that I was perfectly normal. My mom just wanted me to be happy. It’s not her fault that she was taught that my queerness wasn’t okay. She had to unlearn to learn again. It was a really tedious, delicate moment between my parents and me."
Despite this, it was her mom who noticed her attraction to girls before other people found out.
“I always knew I was a lesbian,” she said. “I had my first girlfriend when I was really young. My mom was like, ‘You’re weird around this girl, different than you are around other people.’ She noticed, and then she just dragged me out of the closet.”
And ultimately, she came out the other side with a stronger relationship with her parents who accept her unconditionally. “I was lucky to have parents who decided that their love for me was bigger than anything they didn’t understand,” she said.
How have Billie Eilish and Bad Bunny helped her career?

Young Miko has found huge support in her fellow Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny, with whom she collaborated on the hit song “FINA” from his Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana album. She also joined him on stage as a surprise guest in 2025, and earlier this year she performed at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, where she danced next to Pedro Pascal and Cardi B.
Young Miko has also been welcomed with open arms by Billie Eilish, who, unlike Young Miko, has talked about how singing queer lyrics hurt her career. The queer pop star helped Young Miko reach a broader audience when she opened for Eilish during the U.S. leg of her Hit Me Hard And Soft tour.
Was Young Miko in a Gap ad?
Not only has Young Miko graced the cover of Cosmopolitan in March, but she is also starring in Gap’s first Spanish ad campaign.
The “Sweats Like This” commercial is for Gap’s new line of sweat suits, but it acts more like a music video for Young Miko who is featured along side a group of backup dancers as she sings her hit song, “WASSUP.”
