Video: Karl Lagerfeld Directs Rachel Bilson and Baptiste Giabiconi in.....an Ice Cream Commercial?

While some editors and journalists fear that the never-ending cyclical nature of fashion is wreaking havoc on designers and their creative processes, Karl Lagerfeld's robotic obsession with constantly working on some project makes him an extraordinary exception. In addition for working for three labels: his namesake, Fendi and, of course, his crown jewel Chanel -- the man is also a photographer and has now started dabbling in film. His first film was an advertisement for Chanel and another, longer one will be presented along with his upcoming resort collection. But today, his most recent project was released: an ice cream commercial. While some may be thinking to themselves, huh?, anything and everything seems to make sense in the Kaiser's strange world of blending opulent, rarefied beauty and pop-culture street savvy. He enlisted the talents of Rachel Bilson and his muse Baptiste Giabiconi to star.

Ironically enough, Karl himself doesn't eat sugar -- but when asked by Eric Wilson of The New York Times how he could convey the desire of something that he, himself, does not partake in, he responded: "I'm a dress designer and I don't wear dresses." Touche
