Goodbye, yellow brick road! After being delayed by the global pandemic, music icon Elton John has announced the tour dates for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour.
The legendary singer and piano player had previously announced his farewell tour and began it back in 2018 before having to postpone it due to the global pandemic. The newly announced dates will start on May 27, 2022 in Germany. The European leg of the tour will continue on in Italy, Denmark, The Netherlands, France, and end with five shows in the U.K. From there, John will move to North America.
The North American tour then starts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 15, 2022, and continues through November, where the tour will end with two back-to-back nights at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the site of one of his most iconic performances nearly 50 years earlier.
The tour will then end in 2023, following two shows in Auckland, New Zealand, and then several yet-to-be-announced dates in Australia.
John sent out a message to his fans along with the tour dates. "I'm going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I've ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career," he said. "Whether it's next summer in Frankfurt or at the legendary Dodger Stadium for the grand finale in the United States, I can't wait to see you all on the road one last time.
"This has been an incredible tour so far, full of the most amazing highs, and I look forward to making more wonderful memories with you at these final shows," he added. "To all my friends down under, We'll be seeing you too. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you in your town."
John had previously announced rescheduled dates for several of the North American shows that were postponed due to the pandemic. Those dates start with stops in New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Little Rock, and Oklahoma City in January 2022 before moving onto the rest of the country and Canada throughout February, March, and April.
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour features a cavalcade of John's hits and deep cuts from throughout his storied career. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets on presale, with U.K. dates going on sale Thursday, June 24 at 10am BST. Public sale of U.K. tickets begins June 29.
North American fans can similarly buy presale tickets with their American Express card starting Wednesday, June 23 at noon local time, before the public sale opens June 30.
This is going to be a legendary tour, so make sure you don't miss it!
