Tryst Hospitality has officially acquired legendary Provincetown hotel, restaurant, and entertainment complex The Crown & Anchor.
Tryst Hospitality plans on relaunching the hotel as The Tryst Provincetown, while keeping the iconic Crown & Anchor identity for the rest of the complex in the historic Massachusetts gayborhood.
One of the cornerstones of Provincetown's queer community, The Crown & Anchor features six bars, a restaurant, multiple nightlife and performance venues, and a 17-room hotel, which will now be rebranded as The Tryst Provincetown.
"There's nowhere in the world like Provincetown. It's a place where LGBTQ+ people have come for decades to be seen, to create, to fall in love, and to live openly," Tristan Schukraft, founder and CEO of Tryst Hospitality, says in a press release. "The Crown & Anchor is at the heart of that story; it's been the stage, the dance floor, and Provincetown's unofficial town square. Our goal is to honor that legacy while evolving it for the future, ensuring it remains a vibrant, inclusive home for generations to come."

Paolo Martini, co-owner of The Crown & Anchor, said that Schukraft "is the right person to carry [the venue] forward.
"He understands how important it is that Provincetown remains independent, creative, and proudly queer," Martini says in a statement. "With his vision and resources, The Crown will stay gay-owned, community-driven, and a beacon for generations to come."
After observing a seasonal closure from January through April 2026 to allow for updates and renovations, The Crown & Anchor will reopen for the 2026 season with refreshed spaces and a mix of local favorites and Tryst's signature entertainers from around the world.
Schukraft recently became the owner of iconic gay bar The Abbey in West Hollywood, and also has properties and venues on Fire Island, in Puerto Rico, and Puerto Vallarta, among other locations. He was named to the Out100 in 2024 and has been dubbed "the CEO of Everything Gay."
