Aubrey Plaza crashed tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Live for a sketch about The Hunting Wives season 2 in which she joined the series as a new cast member — and it didn’t take long for actresses Malin Åkerman, Katie Lowes, and Jaime Ray Newman, as well as novelist May Cobb, to share their reactions to this steamy, hilarious, and epic SNL moment.
Hosted by Amy Poehler, this brand-new episode of SNL included a sketch satirizing the hit Netflix series based on May Cobb’s bestselling novel, The Hunting Wives, which follows a group of socialites in Texas such as Margo Banks (Åkerman), Jill (Katie Lowes), Callie (Jaime Ray Newman), and Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow).
After exploring the “sex, lies, and loaded guns” of the Netflix show, the sketch included one last gag: Aubrey Plaza herself entering the scene as the “new new girl” of The Hunting Wives universe… And let’s just say that the women got into it.
It didn’t take long for Lowes to post a video of herself alongside Åkerman and Newman watching the SNL sketch on a phone, backstage during the 35th EMA Awards Gala at the Radford Studio Center in Studio City.
The actresses laughed throughout the entire SNL sketch, and had an even more intense reaction to seeing Plaza joining the scene and bringing up the heat. Their reaction video (included below) ended with the three Hunting Wives stars making an open invitation for Plaza to join season 2 of the show. “Come play with us!”

May Cobb — the author behind this 2021 psychological thriller novel that’s become a Netflix sensation — was also excited about this SNL sketch involving comedy legends like Poehler and Plaza.
Though Cobb didn’t necessarily add to the discourse, she shared a video of this SNL moment and linked to a Deadline article about the sketch, suggesting that she was pretty thrilled about the whole thing.
