Zachary Quinto is set to star in a new comedy that seems delightfully gay.
Deadline announced today that Quinto, the star of Star Trek and American Horror Story, will be starring in the film Down Low opposite Lukas Gage. Simon Rex, Judith Light, and Audra McDonald are also in the cast.
The film, which was written by Gage and Phoebe Fisher, "centers around a deeply repressed man, the uninhibited young man that gives him a happy ending, and all the lives they ruin along the way."
With a name like Down Low and that description, it seems like we've got one gay movie on our hands! Hopefully, we'll all get a happy ending too.
The film's producers, Ashley Fox and Ross Katz say that the film is going to be something like we've never seen before. "Lukas and Zachary are the perfect duo of hilarious and heartbreaking performances," they said. "Lukas's ability to co-write the script and bring it and the character he created to life reveals just how much of a multi-talented creative he is. We are thrilled by the stellar cast that rallied around this wholly unique film."
Gage has appeared in films like Assassination Nation and has starred in TV series like American Vandal, Euphoria, Love, Victor, and The White Lotus. This is his first script.
This isn't the only upcoming film Quinto has with a Euphoria star. He'll also be teaming up with Jacob Elordi in an upcoming thriller titled He Went That Way. The film is "based on the stranger-than-fiction, real-life tale of celebrity animal trainer Dave Pitts and his famous TV chimp Spanky. As the two traveled across the country in 1964 with the Ice Capades, they had a harrowing three-day encounter with serial killer Larry Lee Ranes."
Quinto will also be lending his voice talents to the upcoming Proud Family reboot, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. He'll be playing Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins, one of the gay dads of 14-year-old Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, who will be voiced by Keke Palmer. Billy Porter will be playing his husband, Randall.
