We've been tricked!
Back in September, we all got wildly excited when we heard the news that bicon Megan Fox would be starring as the villain in a reimagined version of the Bonnie and Clyde story, titled Johnny and Clyde.
It seemed like not only were we getting a sexy and hilarious bi actor in a killer role, but also that it was in a gay crime thriller! That's what it seems like based on the title, right? Well, unfortunately, now we know that either Johnny or Clyde is a woman's name, and we aren't getting the gay crime thriller of our dreams.
According to a Deadline exclusive, the titular roles of Johnny and Clyde will be played by Avan Jogia (Victorious, Now Apocalypse) and Ajani Russell (Skate Kitchen, Betty), two people of different genders.
These two actors are hugely talented, and we love to see them getting work, but we were also really hoping this movie would give us the queer criminals we want to see on our big screens.
We also do love Russell, who's part of the diverse and largely queer skateboard crew in the movie Skate Kitchen and the HBO Max series adaptation of the movie, Betty. It will be great to see her get a big role like this.
Still, the Meganaissance continues. Alongside Johnny and Clyde, Fox is set to star in the upcoming Expendables sequel alongside Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone. She's also appearing as a sexy vampire in the Netflix movie Night Teeth, coming out this Wednesday.
Fox has also repeatedly expressed interest in playing a DC or Marvel superhero, and fans are currently clamoring for her to play Poison Ivy opposite Margot Robbie in an upcoming Harley Quinn movie. One way or another, we're going to get our queer criminals!
