Zachary Quinto, Billy Porter to Play Gay Dads in 'Proud Family' Reboot

If you watched Proud Family growing up -- you know the cartoon that Destiny's Child and Solange Knowles did the theme song for -- we have some news that you probably didn't see coming. Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter are joining in the fold as a pair of gay parents.
The Proud Family will be revived in the new series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, set for Disney+. The series is bringing back the original cast and apparently a few new names. Among the newbies: Quinto and Porter who are set to play Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins and Randall Leibovitz-Jenkins respectively. They will pose as the adoptive parents to the 14-year-old Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, set to be voiced by Keke Palmer.

For those who don't remember, the show centers on Penny Proud and her family. she has a crew of friends that always keep the show plugging along. Among those friends is Michael Collins, who is Penny's best guy friend. He is described as a "nonconforming trendsetter," in an EW announcement about the casting of Quinto and Porter. He's a basketball player and serves "fierce looks at school." For the reboot, EJ Johnson will voice the role.
The release date for the new show has not been announced by all episodes of the original Proud Family are currently available on Disney+.
