Is Anna Wintour Copying Us and Putting Nicki Minaj on the Cover of Vogue

In what seemed to be one of the funnier moments in this season's New York Fashion Week spectacular, Vogue editor Anna Wintour was seated next to rapper -- and notoriously eccentric dresser -- Nicki Minaj at Carolina Herrera's show. The image instantly spread across the Internet: Wintour with her signature bob and dark sunglasses looking on solemnly while shoulder-to-shoulder with Minaj who sported a bodice that can only be described as covered in multi-colored cotton balls and a towering blonde beehive.

While industry insiders got a kick out of the oddball mash-up, it looks like Wintour may be the one with the last laugh. Minaj revealed over the weekend that her appearance at Fashion Week was in no way an accident and that Wintour had actually orchestrated the entire photo op and invited Minaj herself. She also revealed that the Vogue editrix sent her a picture of the two of them afterwards. Now, the fashion world is abuzz with the rumor that Wintour may be featuring Minaj on an upcoming cover. Minaj -- who graced our cover back in October of last year -- would be an unusual choice, but Wintour has been diversifying her usual stable of pretty, blonde cover stars (Blake Lively, we're looking at you). In the past year, the magazine has featured Kristen Stewart of Twilight fame, Lady Gaga (one of their best selling issue to date), and is supposedly featuring the relative unknown Noomi Rapace in anticipation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. If there's one thing that Anna's good at, it's manipulating a sensation into magazine sales.
