Kanye West to Go to Fashion School?

As long as celebrities have existed, they've had a close relationship with the world of fashion. Most recently they've been "designing" their very own collections (or, more accurately, lending their names to clothing designs in hopes their celebrity will help yield profits). Some celebrities, though, seem to take fashion a bit more seriously than your average run of mill starlets that do some front row sitting and paparazzi baiting. Kanye West, while a definite front row fixture, seems to be a serious lover of all things fashion-related. He's collaborated on a pair of shoes for Louis Vuitton, attends as many shows as his schedule allows and even peppers his lyrics with references to top model Lara Stone and Celine designer Phoebe Philo.

But now, word from The Sun is that West is so serious about fashion he's applied to the prestigious Central Saint Martins, a design college in London that has trained the likes of Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Stella McCartney. Apparently the rapper even flew out to meet the head of the fashion design department, Professor Louise Wilson, known for her no-nonsense attitude. The institution has an impressive list of alumni, so adding West to the roster is in no means a way to bolster its image. In fact, it could do quite the opposite, should he be perceived to have been accepted due to anything other than on merit. So, will West follow in the footsteps of our beloved Victoria Beckham and make the switch from music to fashion full-time? We'll keep you posted.
