There’s… shade from everybody, let’s just say that!
Gia Gunn chose violence on earlier this week by tweeting out some shade at the RuPaul’s Drag Race queens who attended DragCon LA 2022. Her tweet read, “Say what you want but I saw 0 beauty at this year’s [DragCon]…what happened to the glamour? [shrug emoji].”
Shockingly, endless Drag Race alumni took to social media to respond to Gunn’s tweet. Some reacted with some sense of humor and kept things light. Meanwhile, other queens took Gunn’s statement to heart.
For context, this was the first DragCon opportunity for queens from seasons 12, 13, and 14 of Drag Race given that the in-person event underwent a hiatus due to the pandemic. As a result, many queens were outraged about – or at least bothered by – Gunn’s tweet.

While others worked hard and planned endless hours to create and uplift, others feel the need to be messy for no reason. Irrelevant

Gather round kids I want to tell you a story… The year was 2022 … no measurable or quantifiable beauty was seen near or far…

I think this tweet is a little bit hurtful and i say that with respect towards, you without attacking you. I put a lot of effort in my drag for my first DragCon like many people. I even waved at you and you passed me by and ignored me totally.

Now I usually don’t say anything especially when it comes to messy, foolish, and clearly incorrect social media post, but this time Ms @GiaGunn I feel like this is a step too far. As sisters we should build each other up not tear each other down. Until you learn that take a seat https://t.co/IADOPuqzCN

Did @GiaGunn attend a drag con? Girl stop trying to make your comments about the community of sisters when your not even there to be apart of it. Dragcon is a time to uplift and embrace our sisters for all the work we have put into our craft not tear each other down.
