The Oscars are, once again, going to have a host!
For the first time since Jimmy Kimmel hosted for the second year in a row in 2017, the Academy Awards will have a host, and we've got our own ideas of who that should be. In fact, we've got some pretty queer ideas.
The last time a queer person hosted the prestigious awards was in 2015 when Neil Patrick Harris became the first out gay man to host. Ellen DeGeneres had hosted the previous year and also hosted back in 2007.
So with that in mind, here are seven other LGBTQ+ hosts we'd absolutely love to see up on the Oscar stage this year!
He's always the most fashionable person at award shows, so why not give him a chance to show off his outfits from the big stage? Also with his MCing experience from playing Pray Tell on Pose, we know he's got the range.
How fun would it be to see these two besties hosting the Oscars? If they can host New Year's Eve together, they can certainly host the Oscars. Plus, add in a little booze and see things get really fun.
Not only is she one of the funniest comedians of her generation, but Wanda Sykes is also one of the most likable celebrities of all time. After some questionable choices like Seth McFarlane, James Franco, and even Kimmel, in the last decade, the Oscars could use someone as lovable, and hilarious, as Sykes.
Billy Eichner always exudes stage presence, and he certainly knows how to command attention. Plus, hosting the Oscars would be perfect for his transition from TV star to movie star, plus it would give him a chance to promote his upcoming gay rom-com Bros.
We all know he looks great in a suit, and he's one of the funniest people alive, so why not give hosting duties to SNL's Bowen Yang? We'd love to see what he'd do with the stage.
Why not just jump directly from her new job as the host of E!'s Live from the Red Carpet to host of the Oscars? We'd love to see this iconic actress on stage in a ball gown guiding us through the night of awards and appearances. Please, Oscars, give us a queer host!
Plaza has experience hosting award shows, having MCed the Independent Spirit Awards in 2019 and 2020. Plus, she's a celeb who looks great in both dresses and suits, so we'd love to see what kind of wardrobe changes she'd bring.
