Happy Wednesday, Out readers!

Let's talk about The White Lotus!

Season of HBO's popular show about the wild lives of people who stay at resorts for the rich and privileged around the world is in Thailand this year and wow, what a ride its been! And I'm not even talking about the brother-on-brother incest storyline or Sam Rockwell's ladyboy monologue!

Instead, I want to talk about the real stars of this season, The Girlies. My favorite storyline this year has been the friendcation trio of Kate (Leslie Bibb), Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), and Laurie (Carrie Coon). These three are partying it up like only privileged middle-age white women can!

In episode 3, we learned that one of the long-time friends, Kate, is and "independent" who's husband is a Republican, and who definitely voted for Trump.

Now, we know that there was almost an additional scene where Laurie reveals that her child is nonbinary, and she'd bump heads with Kate on that issue, but the scene was cut after the 2024 presidintial election, "considering the way the Trump administration has weaponized the cultural war against transgender people."

I for one, am glad that the storyline was cut. We don't need yet another example of a conversation on trans rights without any trans people in it. You can read more about why I'm glad it was cut here.

What do you think? Should the show have kept in Laurie's nonbinary child? What do you think is going to happen in the upcoming finale? Let me know!
