Broadway, baby!

Hosted by queer superstar Ariana DeBose for the third consecutive year, the 77th Tony Awards ceremony took place on Sunday, June 16 and was a fabulous night for LGBTQ+ talent on Broadway!

With incredible performances featuring the casts of Hell's Kitchen, Merrily We Roll Along, Illinoise, Stereophonic, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club Suffs, and The Outsiders, among others, the 2024 Tony Awards telecast was a dazzling celebration of live theater that also included trophies for high-profile queer stars and creatives.

Sarah Paulson won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance as Toni in Appropriate.

Maleah Joi Moon — Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical

Maleah Joi Moon won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for playing Ali in Hell's Kitchen.

Angelina Jolie — Best Musical

The Tony Award for Best Musical went to The Outsiders, which was produced by Angelina Jolie — making her a recipient of the award.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins — Best Revival of a Play

Appropriate won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. Its writer, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, accepted the award for the production.

Jonathan Groff — Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical

Jonathan Groff won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance as Franklin in Merrily We Roll Along.

David Adjmi — Best Play

Stereophonic won the Tony Award for Best Play, and playwright David Adjmi took to the stage to accept the award.

Tom Scutt — Best Scenic Design of a Musical

Tom Scutt won the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.
