Winter is coming for the Yellowjackets.
The first teaser for the highly anticipated second season of Showtime's hit show is finally here, and it looks like it's going to be one hell of a winter.
At the end of season one, the first freeze came to the cabin where the high school girls soccer team's plane crashed, leaving one of them frozen to death after sleeping outside. In season two, it seems like we'll get to see a whole lot more of what dangers a winter in the wilderness can bring.
At the beginning of the trailer, we see adult Nat being hypnotized by a therapist. "Listen to my voice and watch the light. Allow yourself to go back, no matter how difficult it gets. What do you see?" the therapist asks her.
"Darkness," she replies. "We brought it back with us."
Shots from the scenes that take place in the wilderness are full of ice and snow, ensuring that the girls will go through even tougher times this year.
We see characters trudging through the deep snow, the cabin being trapped in a blizzard, the team wearing scary masks, committing acts of violence, and dancing around a bonfire. It looks every bit as intense and weird as season one!
The trailer also, of course, shows us what the adult survivors are up to, including introducing one of Misty's new friends, played by Elijah Wood. "Kidnapping, cults, death... your friendships are a little more complicated than most," he tells Misty.
Wood isn't the only new actor joining this season. Lauren Ambrose has joined as the adult version of Van, the team's goalkeeper and Taissa's former girlfriend, and Simone Kessell has joined the cast as the adult version of Lottie, the girl on the team who started having visions in the wilderness.
Two LGBTQ+ actors are also joining the cast for season 2. Supergirl star Nicole Maines is joining as Lisa, an associate of adult Lottie trying to recover from past trauma. Bisexual actor Francois Arnaud is also joining the cast as a secret boyfriend of Coach Scott.
Yellowjackets season 2 begins streaming on Showtime on March 24. Check out the trailer below.
