This week, a group of artists have launched Towards Utopia, an effort to "raise money for trans-feminist, anti-racist organizations that directly provide matrial resources for underserved communities." With then intention to host a series of fundraisers, the gorup released its first, boasting a set of limited edition images from some massive names like Nan Goldin, Luke Gilford, and Ryan McGinley, as well as others.
"Towards Utopia is an egalitarian approach to art appreciation and ownership through community oriented action -- thea ctivation of artists that differ widely in career stage, from recent graduates to household names, provides a unique dynamic setting for the work," a release said. The prints range start at $50 and go up to $200.
The funds raised will go to organizations like GLITS as well as For the Gworls, two groups ran by Black trans women that provide real resources for the comunity such as housing and financial assistance. They will also go to SWOP BK, an organization that operates a mutal aid fund for sex workers who are in need, particularly in the wake of the ongoing global pandemic.
The sale will last until the end of the month or until prints are sold out. Below we have included a selection of the prints but the full gallery can be found on the Towards Utopia website.
