Hello Out readers!
It's almost time for another season of the best reality show on TV, The Traitors! Emmy Award-winning host Alan Cumming is back for a fourth season of the show with an all-new cast of reality TV icons and pop culture celebrities!
The new cast includes some gay favorites like Colton Underwood (The Bachelor), Olympic figure skater and sports commentator Johnny Weir, Top Chef winner and host Kristen Kish, and RuPaul's Drag Race winner Monét X Change.
It also features other stars like figure skater Tara Lipinski, comedian Ron Funches, Real Housewife Porsha Williams, and reality superstar Lisa Rinna. The cast is lacking in one area, however: trans people.
Drag queen and The Traitors season 2 star Peppermint has spoken out, calling for the show to cast more trans people.
"I was hopeful to see more inclusion with the new cast, but after the current administration's threats to punish those who include trans people in their respective industries — everything from healthcare and beyond — I knew many would fall in line," she said in a statement shared with Out.
"I've called upon producers and casting directors to be more inclusive, hoping someone would be brave. I know Alan Cumming understands the importance of trans inclusion especially in this time and I'm hopeful more people in the industry will take the next opportunity."
More cast members may be announced, so hopefully Peppermint's message will get through.
