Hello Out readers, unfortunately, I'm here with the sad news that Netflix's show Boots has been canceled after just one season.
The show, which starred Miles Heizer as Cameron Cope, a young gay man in the U.S. Marine Corps when being gay could get you kicked out of the military, had one terrific season on Netflix.
While attending this year's Out100 party, Heizer, who was the cover star of The Advocate, said he was "manifesting Boots season 2," but now it seems his hopes have been dashed.
"Well, I'm sad to report that Boots isn't being renewed for a second season. I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support they gave this show. It truly shattered my expectations, and I couldn't be more grateful," Heizer said in a new statement.
"Yes, I'm pretty disappointed we won't be returning. But the friends I made and being called woke garbage by the pentagon are things I will cherish for the rest of my life," he added.
This means that Boots joins other great LGBTQ+ shows like A League of Their Own, Mid-Century Modern, My So-Called Life, and Q-Force in the ranks of queer shows canceled after just one season.
It feels even more critical now to enjoy shows like Heated Rivalry while they're airing.
