Ricky Martin, Demi Lovato, and Lil Nas X are setting out to prove you Can't Cancel Pride with a new virtual relief concert.
Can't Cancel Pride is the name of the upcoming benefit concert being hosted by iHeartMedia and Procter & Gamble. The virtual benefit will stream June 4th at 9pm on iHeartRadio's TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram TV page, PrideRadio.com, Revry, and on iHeartMedia radio stations across the country.
The event is teaming up with Greater Cincinnati Foundation to distribute the money raised by the event to LGBTQ+ organizations including GLAAD, SAGE, The Trevor Project, The National Black Justice Coalition, CenterLink, and OutRight Action International. Last year's event raised over $4 million to benefit LGBTQ+ communities impacted by the global pandemic.
"The second annual event will demonstrate that nothing can cancel the heart of Pride and the spirit that the LGBTQ+ equality movement embodies while focusing on the issues that continue to impact the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, including the ongoing pandemic."
Throughout Pride month, iHeartMedia radio stations will air spots encouraging listeners to watch the event on demand and support the participating nonprofits by visiting cantcancelpride.com or texting RAINBOW to 56512.
Martin, Lovato and Lil Nas X will be headlining, but are far from the only people appearing. The concert will also feature performances and appearances from The Brothers Osborne (TJ Osborne came out as gay earlier this year), Hayley Kiyoko, Troye Sivan, JoJo Siwa, Pose star Mj Rodriguez, RuPaul's Drag Race star Nina West, and Olympic silver medalist Gus Kenworthy.
Lovato came out as nonbinary yesterday, announcing that they use they/them pronouns. "Over the past year and a half, I've been doing some healing and self-reflective work. And through this work I've had the revelation that I identify as nonbinary," they said in a video posted to social media. "I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering."
The benefit will be hosted by iHeartMedia personality Elvis Duran and pop singer Bebe Rexha, who will also be performing her new single "Sacrifice."
