The pair surprised jazz fans over the weekend.
A group of jazz lovers in Las Vegas probably had the best weekend ever. Imagine you bought a ticket to jazz trumpeter Brian Newman's "After Dark" lounge show. You're minding your ragtime and bebop business and then all of a sudden, two vocalists hop on stage: Lady Gaga and R&B songstress Ashanti. The result? The duet you never knew you needed.
That's exactly what happened over the weekend according to video posted online.

According to ET, Mother Monster, who is in the middle of her jazz and piano residency in Vegas, finished her performance Saturday night and headed over to Newman's show at the same hotel. That's when both she and Ashanti, who you'll remember from early aughts bops like "Rain on Me" and "Rock Wit U," decided to crash the show.
The pair performed a number of songs, including a jazzed-up version of Ashanti's 2002 banger "Foolish." With only one mic, they handed it back and forth riffing on the "running back to you" lyric from the song. They ended it in harmony, sharing the mic.
What's great about this seemingly unplanned moment is it will surely (hopefully) introduce school-aged monsters to the R&B legend that is Ashanti. She reportedly has new music on the way, and deserves every coin coming to her.
Gaga apparently was feeling her oats because at another point in the performance,ET reports, the performer helped the upright bass player pluck his strings and danced with all the musicians on stage. She also dueted with Newman a rendition of "Just a Gigolo, I Ain't Got Nobody."
