Litchfield is getting a new inmate. EW reports that the Aussie model/DJ/MTV VJ/TV presenter will take on the role of Stella Carlin, “whose sarcastic sense of humor and captivating looks quickly draw the attention of some of Litchfield’s inmates.” According to Elle’s profile of the character—which Rose posted on her Facebook page—Carlin will be the “lust object of both Piper and Alex.” We just wonder what Rose's fiancée Phoebe Dahl thinks of the plot twist.
Though briefly engaged to model Lyndsey Anne McMillan and then later to Catherine McNeil—to whom she came in second in the Girlfriend model search in 2002—she is now engaged to Phoebe Dahl, a fashion designer who is the granddaughter of author Roald Dahl and cousin of model Sophie Dahl. Ruby even got a "Phoebe + Rose" tattoo in 2014. The two live together in LA.
Rose came out as a lesbian at 12 and endured years of bullying from her schoolmates. As an adult she began her modeling career, entering the Girlfriend model search in 2002. Today, she’s a brand ambassador for Maybelline—a roles she's had for four years— and even got their tagline: “Maybe she’s born with it,” tattooed on her collarbone.
In 2007, Rose became a VJ for MTV Australia. Her audition process included downing 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes with Jackass's Bam Margera—she later vommed on national television—and kissing strangers on the streets of Sydney.
This summer, Ruby made a short film titled Break Free, which was a touching look at the topic of gender identity. Rose identifies as gender fluid. “I am very gender fluid and feel more like I wake up every day sort of gender neutral,” she said back in July. She has also been very candid about her struggles with depression.
Rose is also the god-daughter of the late boxing legend Lionel Rose and has taken up her godfather's sport—which is good, you need a strong left hook in the slammer.
OITNB's third season is set to premiere sometime this year.
