Met Gala 2025: 7 not-so 'Superfine' looks

This year's Met Gala theme was all about celebrating Black style, Black Dandyism, and menswear in particular.
When the theme and dress code were announced, Vogue even gave some suggestions, saying looks for the evening should be inspired by everything "from versions of the zoot silhouette popularized by jazz musicians in the 1940s to the bold, colorful styles worn by Congolese 'sapeurs' — though other menswear staples, such as hats, ties, and perhaps canes, brooches, and pocket squares, are likely to have a strong showing, too."
Some people didn't get the note.
Many of the attendees were impeccably dressed, including cochair Colman Domingo, and others like Doechii, Jeremy O. Harris, Cynthia Erivo, and Jeremy Pope, who showed what true Black queer excellence looks like.
These looks, however, left something to be desired.

We loved that Walton Goggins had lots of fun, but we wish he had put a little more thought into his look. We're not so sure this long kilt fits the theme (or Goggins).

We loved you in The White Lotus, but we don't love you in this belted pinstripe suit (and gloves?) with a yellow shirt.

The theme was "Superfine," not "Republican donor at a Super PAC fundraiser."

Emma Chamberlain is known for her sometimes quirky and experimental style, but if you take a lot of chances, sometimes they won't work out. That's the case here with these see-through gloves, vest dress, and pixie cut.

Kardashian got Vogue's note about hats, but this black leather look doesn't do much for us. Seeing her once again dragging out a super corsetted look for the Met Gala has us wondering if she has any other ideas.

Why was he even invited? It seems like the Tonight Show host didn't even look at the dress code before getting dressed.
