American brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Billy Reid, and Kenneth Cole are increasingly looking back to the classics, updating fabrics and serving up modern interpretations of pieces you may have thought were miles away from chic. (A union suit? We had our doubts, too.) The right combination -- a checkered flannel, snug knitwear, and a bit of leather -- says you're ready to cuddle and chop a little wood.
