Heated Rivalry has inspired a legion of devoted fans who have obsessed over every frame of the show.
But now the physical release of the gay hockey romance has finally given the fanbase new footage to obsess over.
The Heated Rivalry season 1 DVD and Blu-ray includes three never-before-seen deleted scenes and a blooper reel that should keep fans occupied while the stars finish filming season 2.
While the blooper reel shows stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie — who play hockey stars and secret lovers Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, respectively — goofing around and being silly while filming the now-popular series based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changer romance novels, the deleted scenes allow fans to see extra footage that was cut out.
Among those never-before-seen moments is an extended version of the scene where a young Shane introduces himself to Ilya, who is smoking outside the hockey rink when they meet for the first time.
The most important part of the scene was left in the show, but this extended version highlights how amused and charmed Ilya was by Shane’s awkward introduction and attempts at a conversation.
There is also an extra scene of a tipsy Shane talking to his dad at the award show where he wins Rookie of the Year.
Fans have gone wild for the extra content from their favorite show and immediately took to social media to post the scenes, which have already been shared widely across the internet, despite the DVDs only being released today.
"In many ways, the DVD release felt like the natural next step," said series creators Jacob Tierney and Brenden Brady. "Knowing that fans can own a piece of the series and give it a place in their collection means a great deal to us. The special features and Collector’s Edition offer even more to discover and enjoy. We hope everyone has as much fun with this release as we’ve had making the series and bringing the steamy, nostalgic look of the Collector’s Edition to life."
The scenes included on the DVD were ones that were filmed and then cut from season 1, but Tierney also just released a book full of annotated scripts that reveals other moments that were cut before they were even filmed, including Ilya crossing paths with Shane’s parents before the coming out scene in episode 6, a version of the locker room scene where Ilya asks Shane if he was getting aroused because he was thinking about his girlfriend, moments showing the infamous cottage being built, and a slightly different version of Shane inviting Ilya to come to his cottage while drugged up in the hospital.
On November 24, a Collector’s Edition on 4K UHD will also be released with even more content. There will be VHS-style packaging, collectible art cards, a double-sided poster, and a hockey puck stress reliever.
Heated Rivalry season 2 is set to premiere in April 2027.
