This controversial couple is literally baring all.
Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes is currently in prison after a federal jury found her guilty on four counts of investor fraud in 2022. She began serving her time at serving her sentence at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in May 2023.
Holmes's sentencing is now the subject of the new A24 documentary You Can See Everything. Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the first half of the movie documents her final weeks with her partner and children just before she surrendered herself to federal prison. Production picked up again two years later to continue following the narrative during Holmes's incarceration.
Right off the bat, the film starts with a very shocking scene. Cameras follow Holmes's fiancé, Billy Evans, as he works out at the gym. Things seem normal at first, but production eventually follows him into the shower. As a result, a full-frontal scene made the final cut. Turns out, you really can see everything in this film!
Despite some of the surprising scenes, You Can See Everything is receiving overwhelmingly positive, record-breaking reviews. With a 98 percent "Fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes and 99/100 score on Metacritic, the critical reception focuses praises the uncomfortable chemistry between co-director Nathan Fielder and Elizabeth Holmes. Throughout the movie, Fielder grills Holmes on her life and if she's willing to admit that she's ever lied.
After audiences get to see a raw look at Holmes's final days before prison, the second half of the films flips the script by focusing on the filmmakers themselves and the nature of truth. There's even buzz that it could be the first documentary ever to be nominated for the Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
