There's no real way to understand these sort of things, but, as if by magic, Bret Easton Ellis's career-making horror phantasia American Psycho is suddenly on the collective minds of people everywhere. Yesterday, Varietyannounced that a re-boot of the film, first released in 2000 starring Christian Bale and Chloe Sevigny, is in the works. This after mumblings that Broadway would be welcoming an all-singing, all-dancing iteration of the tale of axe-wielding Patrick Bateman. Even the fashion world is on board with ironic American Psycho vs. Occupy Wall Street-themed editorials, courtesy of those hipster pranksters at Vice. We've spent the past few hours pondering how this will all turn out. Is this going to be good? Bad? So-bad-it's-good? Can Patrick Bateman win a Tony? For killing people? So many questions. At least one thing is for certain--Ellis approves of the film remake, just as long as Scott Disick (the eerily waxy husband to Kourtney Kardashian, duh) to play the bloodthirsty maniac. Touche, Mr. Ellis, touche.
