We still miss Florent, the 24-hour bistro run by the brilliant Florent Morellet, featured in the 2008 Out 100, where it wasn't unusual to see supermodels and trans-hookers mingling in the early hours over a few glasses of wine and Florent's much-missed French onion soup.
HIV positive Morellet, who kept score of his T-Count cell on a board above the register, is currently working on plans for a new 24-hour Florent in 2011, but in the meantime fans and foodies can bide their time by watching David Sigal's new documentary, Florent: Queen of the Meat Market, which debuts at the New York City Food Film Festival June 23-27. Tickets available here.
A preview of the new movie can be found here.
