Not going to the March on Washington for Equality this weekend? You must have a valid excuse. As it turns out, not knowing an affordable way to get there isn't one of them.
The Equality Across America website has info on Amtrak and Greyhound discounts as well as special groups organizing cheap shuttles from areas including: Albany, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Connecticut, New York, Florida, Houston, Michigan, Philly, Western Mass, Providence, Rochester, Minnesota, Tennessee and Madison.
For Baltimore, Boston, Philly and New York residents, Bolt Bus offers affordable $20 tickets for travel departing on Sunday morning.
The march begins at noon on Sunday and the rally will start at approximately 2 pm on the lawn of the US Capitol. Most of the transportation options do not require an overnight stay, just maybe a little extra effort and an early start to get to DC by noon. The site does however offer links to special hotel and transpo-combo deals.
