LGBTQ+ Stars Who Walked the 2022 BET Awards Red Carpet
The 22nd annual BET Awards took place this past Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Notably, Lil Nas X was completely snubbed after being one of the most successful rappers in the industry for the past year. This prompted X to drop a new song, "Late to da Party," where he quite literally raps, "F*ck BET."
Despite that, the 2022 BET Awards still happened, and quite a few LGBTQ+ celebrities were in attendance. Though there was certainly an awkward energy at the event given all of the drama surrounding Nas X being snubbed and releasing a song dissing BET, the show still went on, and the queer celebrities walking the red carpet did their best to stay out of the controversy.
One ally who didn't shy away from picking a side was Jack Harlow, who worked with X on the hit single "Industry Baby." While walking the red carpet at the 2022 BET Awards, Harlow wore a Lil Nas X merch t-shirt and made waves on social media for the bold move.
In an attempt to make itself look better, the 2022 BET Awards organized a Black Queer Excellence section during the ceremony featuring Billy Porter and other LGBTQ+ figures such as Shaun Ross, Pose actress Dominique Jackson, and Legendary star Shannon Balenciaga, among others.
Scroll through to see the LGBTQ+ celebrities who attended the 2022 BET Awards and check out their looks on the red carpet.
