The Demi Lovato Show is coming sooner than we thought.
Demi Lovato was set to launch their new short-form talk show on Quibi this year, but after the failure of that platform, the show was looking for a new home. And now it has it in the form of Roku.
“The Demi Lovato Show premieres on #TheRokuChannel on July 30! Join @ddlovato and an incredible lineup of celebrity guests as they discuss activism, feminism, gender identity, aliens and more ☁️✨”— The Roku Channel (@The Roku Channel) 1624972027
Today, the Roku Channel announced that The Demi Lovato Showwill officially premiere Friday, July 30.
The show was originally announced as a part of the short-lived short-form service Quibi as Pillow Talk With Demi Lovato, but when that streamer shut down on December 1, the future of the show was up in the air. That's until Roku announced it would be taking over Quibi shows and run them as Roku Originals on their service.
The Demi Lovato Show will feature special guests and cover wide-ranging topics all the way from feminism, gender, and sexuality, to mental health, body positivity, and UFOs. Some of the guests scheduled to appear include Jameela Jamil, Lucy Hale, and Nikita Dragun.
"Some conversations can be difficult, but I've never been one to shy away from speaking candidly about things," Lovato said about the show. "We wanted to create a space that normalizes living your own truth -- where people can speak, engage and more importantly, learn, together. There's something therapeutic about having raw discussions that people can relate to and with The Demi Lovato Show no topics are off limits and opinions are welcome. I'm so excited for people to see how these conversations unfold on the Roku Channel."
Lovato is having a huge year. The actor and pop star recently came out as nonbinary, updating their pronouns to they/them. "I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering," they said in a social media post.
Lovato is set to produce and star in a new TV show for NBC titled Hunger. The show will follow a group of friends in a food issues support group as they bond and explore their lives together. They also recently launched a podcast called 4D with Demi Lovato that includes conversations with guests like feminist icon and acting legend Jane Fonda.
They also have an upcoming four-part docuseries on Peacock, titled Unidentified with Demi Lovato, about UFOs and the possibility of extraterrestrial life.
Lovato has survived a lot of struggles in their life, including recently, and we couldn't be more happy to see them successful and thriving like this.
The Demi Lovato Show is executive produced by Lovato, and is being produced by GoodStory Entertainment and SB Projects. Hanna Lux Davis serves as the director for the series.
