From the Vaults: George Platt Lynes' Elegant Queer Photography

The George Platt Lynes Collection is perhaps the most important group of works in the Kinsey collections representing a single artist. Hidden in boxes on the top floor of the Institute, unframed and unmatted, they were a revelation when they were found in 1982. Mysterious, elegant--images of male and female nudes, Balanchine's dancers performing without costumes, portraits of the leaders of art and literature of his day, and eerily modern fashion photographs from Harper's Bazaar and Vogue.
