The SNL cast is getting a little more diverse!

Get ready for some good trans jokes to come to Saturday Night Live.

NBC's long-running sketch comedy show announced four new featured players added to the cast ahead of the show's 48th season, and one of them, Molly Kearney, is making history as the first nonbinary SNL cast member!

Queer fans might recognize Kearney from their role as baseball player Fern in the TV show version of A League of Their Own. The comedian from Cleveland has also been seen in Disney+'s The Mighty Ducks show and on Comedy Central's "Up Next" Showcase in 2019.

Last season, the SNL cast was filled to the brim - there were a record 21 cast members. But after the season ended, seven of those members left, including some longtime mainstays.

Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and longtime SNL centerpiece Kate McKinnon all announced they were leaving the show. McKinnon joined back in 2012, making her the longest-running woman cast member in the show's history.

This month, it was announced that other cast members Melissa Villasenor, Alex Moffat, and Aristotle Athari were also leaving, creating a huge gap in the show's lineup. Now, we know some of the people brought in to fill it.

Currently, other queer SNL cast members include Bowen Yang, SNL's "first openly bottom" cast member, and Punkie Johnson, who became the show's first out Black lesbian cast member in 2020.

Other new cast members include Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and Marcello Hernandez. Season 48 of SNL will air its first episode on October 1 on NBC and stream live on Peacock.
