The Proud Family Reboot Has a Ton of LGBTQ+ Guest Stars

We can't wait to see all our queer faves animated on Disney+!

It's a queer family affair!

Some of our favorite LGBTQ+ actors and stars are coming to Disney+ next year as a part of the rebooted series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder!

Disney announced the guest stars for the upcoming animated show today, which includes VMA winner Lil Nas X, as well as other queer stars like Lizzo, Lena Waithe, Jane Lynch, and beauty guru Bretman Rock.

Aside from X, the list of Louder and Prouder guest stars reads as a veritable who's who of Hollywood, with other A-List talent like Chance the Rapper, Normani, Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, Courtney B. Vance, Marsai Martin, Jaden Smith, Brenda Song, Tina Knowles, all slated to lend their voice talents to the show!

"The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will pick up the story of its central character, Penny Proud, and include her madcap family: parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and grandmother Suga Mama (and Puff!)," the series' official description reads. "Of course, it would not be The Proud Family without Penny's loyal crew Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez, and Zoey Howzer, among others."

Returning cast members include Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson and Paula Jai Parker as her parents, Oscar and Trudy, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama, Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby, the entire Boulevardez clan and Penny's friends Dijonay and Zooey.

But Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Waithe, Lynch, and Rock won't be the only LGBTQ+ stars appearing on the show! Keke Palmer is set to recur as Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, and Billy Porter and Zachary Quinto are set to play her two dads. Additionally, EJ Johnson is set to appear as new character Michael Collins, who is described as a "nonconforming trendsetter" who "serves fierce looks at school."

All seasons of the original The Proud Family series are currently available on Disney+, and today, September 15, is the 20th anniversary of the show!

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is set to premiere in 2022!
