Power 50: Zachary Quinto

Zachary Quinto

It was a breakthrough moment when Quinto, a lead actor in a major studio franchise (the J.J. Abrams-directed reboot of Star Trek) came out in 2011 — a decision he came to thoughtfully and coherently. “One of the most defining conversations that I had with myself,” he told Out shortly thereafter, “was that absolutely no good can come from me staying quiet about [my sexual orientation].” Since then he has continued to build an impressive résumé that straddles cinema, television, and stage, including what New York Times critic Ben Brantley described as his “career-defining performance” in last year’s Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie.
