When whistleblower Edward Snowden exposed the National Security Agency's worldwide electronic surveillance program, it was in large part due to the exceptional work of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald. Along with Laura Poitras, director of the Oscar-winning documentary Citizenfour, Greenwald has shone a light on the broader surveillance culture that threatens hard-earned civil liberties. Last year, Greenwald launched a much anticipated investigative Web site, The Intercept, which continues to find its footing in the face of internal dissent and conflicting signals from founder Pierre Omidyar.
