The singer-songwriter dropped her case in order to try and release new music.

Last night Kesha, who's been embroiled in a legal battle with her producer for almost two years, dropped her case in order to deliver new music to Sony for release.

Kesha filed suit against her producer Dr. Luke in October 2014, claiming he drugged and raped her, and asking to be removed from Sony Records, with whom she has a six album exclusive recording contract. Dr. Luke retaliated to Kesha's plea, denying any abuse and filing a countersuit for breach of contract.

As a result of the battle, Kesha has not been able to release any original new music since her album, Warrior, in 2012. A judge told her in February that she would not be allowed to leave Sony, and that she must finish the six albums required of her on the contract.

Though the artist is appealing this decision, Monday night she dropped her charges in order to deliver new music for release--28 songs she recorded independently of Sony, on her own dime.

Kesha took to Instagram to say, "My fight continues. I need to get my music out. I have so much to say. This lawsuit is so heavy on my once free spirit, and I can only pray to one day feel that happiness again. I am continuing to fight for my rights in New York. Thank you for all your support. The support of my fans has been so beautiful and I'm so grateful for it. I'm Not sure where I would be without you all."

The singer also announced an exclusive, intimate "creepy" tour with select dates this summer featuring reimaginations of some of hers and her colleague's old classics. Tickets for Kesha and the Creepies are available here.

In a statement, Kesha's rep said, "We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha's strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible."

Buzzfeed News reports that if Sony chooses not to release Kesha's new music, they in turn could be sued for breach of contract. Either way, Kesha is one step closer to getting out of this mess.
